Syncplify Server! v6.0.3 released

Today we released Syncplify Server! v6.0.3; here’s what’s new and improved in this version.

Fixed
  • Restoring from old V4/V5 backups in some cases did not import the virtual sites’ admin(s)
  • Restoring from old V4/V5 backups skipped the structure validation, causing potential issues editing the configuration down the road (some changes would not persist)
  • Occasional 15-second timeout of the control connection while transferring data over a PASV data connections (FTP protocol family only)
  • Unit validation of some SI (standard international system) numeric values
  • In some user profiles it wasn’t possible to import a user-supplied public key for PKI authentication
Improved
  • The “System ID” is now immutable even across multiple uninstall/reinstall cycles
New
  • There is now an easy-to-see top-screen notification when updates/upgrades are available with instructions on how to obtain them

Upgrading from v6.0.x is a simple and fairly automatic process: simply download the latest version from the official download page, and install it over the existing version, all of your settings and license will be kept.

If, instead, you’re upgrading from an older (v4/v5) version, you find the upgrade instructions in our knowledge base.

Thank you all for trusting our software with your secure file transfers!

Notifications in the Web UI and via Email

Yes, in Syncplify Server! V6 we’re finally implementing a long-awaited notification system. SuperAdmins and Admins will be able to choose what notifications they want to receive and how.

Of course, SuperAdmins will receive every subscribed notification, while Admins will only receive the notification they subscribed to limited only to the specific Virtual Site they manage.

Here’s a sneak peek of the notification subsystem in the SuperAdmin UI:

Now, back to work… 😉

Yes! Notifications… and emails!

Just a few quick lines to share these days’ progress with you guys.

We have just finished implementing a whole new notification subsystem. So, we can now confirm that Syncplify Server! v6 will feature (for the first time in our product lifespan) automatic notifications for important events that happen in the software itself.

There are 3 types of notifications:

  1. Information: things like “the service is starting” or “an update is available”
  2. Warning: things like “your SSL/TLS certificate will expire in 15 days”
  3. Error: things like “the service cannot start because the license is invalid”

Notifications will be available in the web interfaces (both SuperAdmin UI and Admin UI) and, optionally, each SuperAdmin and each Admin may elect to receive some of them (by category) also via email.
